The Department of Children, Disability and Equality proud to become a JAM Card Friendly Organisation

April 15th 2026 — The Department of Children, Disability and Equality has been announced as JAM Card Friendly by the NOW Group, a social enterprise operating across Ireland that supports people who are neurodiverse, autistic or have a learning difficulty into jobs with a future.
The Department partnered with JAM Card part of the NOW Group in December 2025 and to become a JAM Card Friendly Business over 80% of all employees undertook online training. The training equips colleagues with the awareness and confidence needed to respond with empathy and understanding. By becoming JAM Card friendly, the Department continue to build an inclusive workplace for their colleagues and enhance customer service for individuals with invisible disabilities.
The Department joins 3,500 businesses who are JAM Card Friendly.
The Just a Minute (JAM) Card is a simple and discreet tool provided by the NOW Group that allows people with learning difficulties, autism or other communication barriers to signal that they need a little extra time or patience. It is available as both a physical card and a mobile app, providing an easy, silent way for individuals to communicate their needs. There are currently 210,000 JAM Card users worldwide.
