We're delighted to welcome Gala Retail to the growing network of organisations supporting JAM Card and helping to create more inclusive experiences for people with invisible disabilities and communication barriers.
Through this new partnership with NOW Group, Gala Retail is introducing JAM Card awareness and inclusivity training across its retail network, helping participating stores better understand and support customers who may need a little extra time, patience or understanding.
The JAM Card, which stands for Just A Minute, is a simple and discreet way for people with communication barriers, autism, learning disabilities, dementia, hearing loss, anxiety or other invisible disabilities to let others know they may need additional support.
With more than 230 stores across Ireland, Gala Retail plays an important role in communities nationwide. By becoming JAM Card Friendly, Gala is helping to make everyday shopping more accessible and inclusive for everyone.
Tony Cluskey, Marketing and Ambient Trading Manager at Gala Retail, said:
"Gala stores are at the heart of communities across Ireland, and this partnership is another important step in ensuring shoppers feel welcome and supported when they visit their local store.
For someone with an invisible disability or communication barrier, a busy retail environment can sometimes feel overwhelming. The JAM Card provides a simple and discreet way for customers to let store teams know that they may need a little more time."
Claire McCleery, Director of JAM Card for Business at NOW Group, welcomed the partnership:
"We are delighted to welcome Gala Retail as a JAM Card partner and to see the Group champion greater inclusion within convenience retail.
By introducing JAM Card training and awareness, Gala is helping to reduce communication barriers and create environments where people with invisible disabilities feel understood and supported."
Every new JAM Card Friendly organisation helps create a more inclusive society where people feel recognised, respected and supported in their everyday interactions. We are proud to partner with Gala Retail and look forward to seeing the positive impact this initiative will have for customers across Ireland.
