AXA Insurance become first Direct Insurance Company in Northern Ireland to become JAM Card Friendly

AXA Northern Ireland staff completed JAM Card Friendly Training

AXA Insurance is the latest business leader to join the JAM Card movement, in a bid to enhance diversity and inclusion awareness across their branches and claims handlers.

JAM Card is an innovative initiative which helps break down communication barriers for those with a hidden disability. The identification card, which is available in physical or App versions, allows people to tell others that they need ‘Just A Minute’ of patience in a simple and discreet way.

Since partnering with JAM Card, all branches across Northern Ireland have completed the interactive eLearning JAM Card for Business training. The next step in AXA’s commitment to championing diversity and inclusion is to roll out the online training to all staff across the organisation. This will help staff identify communication barriers and understand how to best support policy holders. The JAM Card training programme will give staff the tools to identify those who may be vulnerable customers and provide recommendations for how to best support these individuals.

Speaking about the partnership, Julieann Martindale, Regional Manager at AXA Insurance “We are delighted and proud that our 10 AXA Insurance Branches in Northern Ireland are now JAM Card partners. AXA are passionate about putting our Customers at the heart of everything we do and the introduction of JAM Cards will enable our branch staff to meet the needs of all our customers and deliver good outcomes.

Every staff member in our NI branch network has completed training which reflects our commitment to ensure that all our branches are accessible to all including those with learning disabilities and hidden disabilities.”

JAM Card was founded by participants of NOW Group, an all-island social enterprise supporting people with learning difficulties and neurodivergence into jobs with a future.

Nicola Tipping, Business Development Manager for JAM added: “We are thrilled that AXA have committed to becoming a JAM Card Friendly Business. We look forward to supporting AXA with their 3-year JAM Card partnership as they embed neurodiversity awareness across their teams. We are hopeful that this is only the beginning of the insurance industry in Northern Ireland prioritising JAM Card as their inclusion partner of choice.”

JAM Card is a simple but effective way to support both your customers and staff in your organisation who may need a helping hand, but also require discretion or privacy.

With 178, 000 users worldwide and 2, 500 businesses now JAM Card Friendly, JAM Card is growing rapidly across the globe.
