NOW Group, a leading social enterprise and creator of the innovative JAM Card, is rallying businesses across the island of Ireland to sign up to the inaugural ‘JAMUARY Challenge’ and make 2025 a landmark year for inclusion.

A transformative initiative, JAMUARY is challenging businesses to kickstart the new year by prioritising inclusion, ensuring 2025 as a milestone year for welcoming and supporting everyone.

With over 180,000 users, the JAM Card, which stands for “Just A Minute” is a simple yet powerful tool, that empowers individuals with invisible disabilities to let others know in a discreet way that they need a minute of patience in their workplace or when using shops, services and public transport. By embracing the JAM Card, businesses not only demonstrate their commitment to accessibility but also foster deeper, more meaningful connections with customers and colleagues.

Maeve Monaghan, CEO of NOW Group, emphasises the significance of JAMUARY,

“We are thrilled to launch the first-ever JAMUARY Challenge and invite businesses to make inclusion a cornerstone of their 2025 strategy. Accessibility goes beyond physical spaces; it’s about the small gestures that make people feel safe, valued, and respected. With the recent launch of our new eLearning platform, becoming a JAM Card Friendly Business is easier than ever. In just 20 minutes, your staff can be equipped with the knowledge to create a welcoming environment for everyone. This is your opportunity to make a tangible impact in your community and lead the charge for inclusion.”

The JAMUARY Challenge is inspired by the ongoing success and support of over 3, 000 JAM Card Friendly Businesses across the UK & Ireland. One of the NOW Group’s Strategic Partners, Terex, a Global Manufacturer with sites across Ireland, were the first to coin the ‘JAMUARY’ term in 2024. They used the month of January to successfully roll out the JAM Card training across their 7 sites in Ireland, resulting in almost 800 team members trained. Supported by the NOW Group team, Terex also hosted open sessions to raise awareness of JAM and the training programme. Lindsay Colton, Digital Transformation Manager commented that,

“As a global company, we feel passionately about reducing the stigma often attached to disability. Our pledge in becoming a JAM Card Friendly Business represents a significant milestone in our commitment to advancing diversity, equity and inclusion within our workforce. This partnership underscores our collective commitment to ensuring all team members, suppliers & customers feel safe, supported, and valued, as well as driving meaningful change and building a more equitable and inclusive society.”
